Why
can't I connect using FTP program or FrontPage by putting my site name?
When
your domain name gets transferred to our servers or changes made your
hosting package, the changes made have to propagate to all the domain
names servers on the Internet. This process usually takes 24 to 48 after
the changes are made. While these changes are made you can use the IP
address that is sent in you Welcome to ZiD.com web hosting email to
transfer your site. Please note that even thought that your site is
uploaded, you will not be able to see it until the DNS changes take
effect.

Why
does it take 48 hours to see my web site?
When we make changes
to the DNS records of your domain name in order for it to point to our
servers, it takes 24 to 48 hours before these changes are propagated
to all the domain name servers on the Internet. All domain name servers,
including the one at your ISP, have a cache that stores domain name
information. The information in this cache is only updated every 24
to 48 hours. Different ISP's or domain name servers update their cache
at different intervals, so you may see your website correctly at the
office and not at your home, if you have different ISP's.

How come I have uploaded new pages on my web site, but I see the old
ones in my browser?
There are two reasons
why this could be happening. One is that your web browser software has
the old information in its cache. For instructions on how to do this
with Ms Internet Explore click here.
The other is that
a caching server at your ISP or proxy server on you network is storing
or caches the old files.
These store web pages on a local server(s) to give a faster response
to users and avoid using bandwidth. Most caches are refreshed every
24 hours, so it may take that long for you to see your new modified
web pages.

If I have proxy server or my ISP uses a cache server, what can I do
to see my modifications faster?
You can ask your
web designer or the person that is making your web pages to place a
Meta tag in all your pages with an expiry date for your page. This will
force the cache /proxy server to go get a refreshed version of your
page instead of using its cached pages.

How
do I set-up Date Source Names (DSN) and databases for MySql?
Within our Linux
Control Panel there is the ability to create multiple mysql databases
as well as multiple users within each database. Also, directly accessible
via our control panel, is a link to PhpMyAdmin, a PHP interface that
abstracts mysql into a web-based administration tool, allowing you to
sort, edit, and create tables within a given database. Database limits
are set through domain preferences and database disk usage is calculated
within the domain's total allotted disk space.
It is located at
http://linux.zid.com.

Where
do I upload my CGI scripts?
Every web-hosting
plan includes a cgi-bin directory for your scripts used on your web
site. All you have to do is upload the scripts to the cgi-bin directory
on your site. Make sure that when you transfer the script that you set
the permissions to 755 with the chgmod option in your FTP software.
