Step 1: Double-click on My Computer.
Step 2: Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.
Step 3: If this is your first connection, double-click on Make New connection, if not right-click on the Inter.net connection and choose Properties.
Step 4: Enter your local access number as well as the area code (for example, 514-380-8646 is needed to reach Montreal from the 450 area code), and any codes needed (such as *70, to turn off call waiting or 9 to reach an outside line) in the Telephone number box.
Step 5: Click on the Server Types Tab and make sure only Enable sofware compression and TCP/IP are checked:
Step 6: Click on TCP/IP Settings, then uncheck Use IP header compression.
Step 7: Click OK, then OK again.
